Allan Davison (Hon Member) - Principal Eb Bass
As a member of the 3rd Carrickfergus Boys Brigade Company I joined the band in September 1975, learning to play the trombone before progressing to tenor horn and eventually moving to the bass section of the band.
I have been a member for 33 years and have been secretary for over 20 years looking after the administrative affairs of the band.
I am also a member of the Northern Ireland Friendship Band where I was chairman for 10 years from 1995 to 2005.
Representing Third Carrickfergus Band gave me an interest in the organisation of brass bands at a local as well at international levels and I am currently enjoying a second spell as Chairman of the Brass Band League (NI) and have also a represented of the North of Ireland Bands Association (NIBA) as a delegate to the European brass Band Association (EBBA).
This involvement with EBBA led to my acting as a contest controller at the European Brass Band Championships in 2005 and 2006 and I was responsible for organising the European Youth Brass Band in 2006 when 38 young people from 15 different countries came together in Belfast for 8 days of rehearsals and concerts at venues including Belfast’s City Hall and the Waterfront Hall.
Married to Linda for 24 years with 3 sons and 4 grandchildren, what little time I have free after family and band commitments is spent at my day job as General Manager of one of the provinces leading house builders.
