James Hunter - Second Trombone
In 1975 I decided to join Magheramorne Silver Band, was given a trombone and a Tune-a-Day book, which I never got to the end of, but eventually progressed to playing hymns and marches.
At Greenland Secondary School, I briefly played in their band, but was more interested in playing football.
During the 1980s, Magheramorne began contesting, and success came in Fourth Grade.
An opportunity arose, when Andy Crawford advised me that the Third Carrickfergus Band needed a 2nd trombone player, so I contacted Dessie Graham, was made very welcome and joined in January 1999, and the rest is history.
I enjoy the band, am still learning, and will attend as best I can until retirement.
