Ruth Dodridge - First Horn

Ruth Dodridge I have been a member of Third Carrickfergus Silver Band since the age of 11, and ever since then I have been a committed member. As a result of the tuition and support given to me in the band I have developed significantly as a player.

I participated in the European Youth Brass Band for three years as a representative for Northern Ireland, taking part in the Holland, Belfast and Norway courses. For two years I was also a Solo Cornet with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.

I have played with other ensembles including the City of Belfast Youth Orchestra, Ballymena Chamber Orchestra, QUB brass quintet and the Dalriada Quartet.

As well as playing the cornet/trumpet I also play and teach the piano. I do a lot of accompanying, particularly for members of the Third Carrickfergus Junior Band.

I have just finished a music course at Queens University in Belfast. I have decided to take my music career further and am currently employed by the Bank of Ireland.

Third Carrick has been a big part of my life. One of the best parts was meeting my husband, Alan Dodridge (the 2nd Euph player - I'm his boss).
