Band Appoints New Conductor
January 20
Keith Anderson

The band are delighted to announce the appointment of Keith Anderson as its new conductor.

Keith is a hugely experienced and successful conductor and one of the finest bass players in the country and we look forward to the band’s continuing improvement that this appointment will undoubtedly bring.

Keith started playing brass in the City of Belfast School of Music at the age of 11 under the tuition of Mr Bill Donnan. After a short stint on Trumpet then Trombone, he moved to EEb Bass aged 14 and then studied under the direction of Ewan Easton. He started his contesting career soon after and has held the principal EEb Bass seat with several local bands. After leaving the School Of Music aged 18, he returned as a brass tutor, a position he held for 12 years before relocating away from Belfast.

As a player, Keith has won numerous solo prizes in Entertainment Contests, been awarded Best Instrumentalist in both BBNI & NIBA Championships and has been Northern Ireland solo champion twice, with several podium placings in other years.

Keith started his conducting career at the age of 22 and has achieved many contest successes in Northern Ireland from Grade 4 through to Championship Section. He has also achieved podium finishes on both the UK and European stage.

In recent years he has adjudicated on two occasions for the Flute Band Association of Northern Ireland.
