Band competes in Championship of Ireland contest
October 2007

The 90th Championship of Ireland Bands’ Contest was held on Saturday 13th October 2007 in the Market Place Theatre, Armagh. This year the contest was adjudicated by conductor, composer and arranger Mr Derek Broadbent.

The set piece for this year in the Second Section Brass was “A Gallimaufry Suite” by P Harper. Unfortunately, the band were unable to emulate last years win and were pipped at the post by Downshire Brass. Congratulations to them on their achievement and also to The Murley Band on their win in the Chamionship section.

Despite the result, the band enjoyed an evening together which did not conclude until daybreak.

Best Instrumentalist: A Howarth (Euphonium) – 1st Old Boys’ Brass
