Band ends 2009 Summer Concert Season in Home Town
September 06 2009

Due to bad weather and no alternative venue the final band concert for the 2009 summer season was unable to take place today. It was due to be held on the Castle Green in Carrickfergus, the band’s home town.

However, last Sunday – 30th August, the band played what turned out to be the final summer concert by performing to an excellent and supportive audience in the Civic Centre in Carrickfergus, including the mayor – Alderman Patricia McKinney, with an entertaining selection of music, some of which can be heard on the band’s new CD aptly titled “On The Castle Green” and is available from any band member or by sending us an email request.

After this run of 15 summer concerts the band can now settle down and start to concentrate on the set piece for the NIBA Annual Championship of Ireland Contest which will be held in the Market Place Theatre, Armagh on Saturday 31st October 2009. The test piece for this year is Resurgam by Eric Ball, a stunning work which will put all of the competing bands through their paces and is set to be an interesting contest.

Following that, the band will then embark on their Christmas Concerts. A list of where the band can be seen will be posted on the Engagements page of this website when all that dates have been finalised.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our concerts and thank you all once again for your continued support.
