The annual BBL Spring Festival, which was held for the second time in the Alley Theatre in Strabane. Playing “Dimensions” by Peter Graham, the band managed only a 3rd place on the day but a big congratulations to our Solo Cornet player Ruth Dodridge who won the solo prize in our section. Congratulations also to Laganvale, Downshire, CWA and St. Mary’s Silver on their winning performances and also to 1st Old Boys Band who became Band of the Year. The adjudicator for the day was Peter Roberts and the compere was Mr William Caughey (BBL President).

1st Place: St. Mary’s Silver – Conductor: T Docherty – 180 points
Third Section Brass
1st Place: CWA – Conductor: F Moore – 185 points
2nd Place: St Mark’s Silver – Conductor – C McBride – 184 points
Second Section Brass
1st Place: Downshire Brass – Conductor: M Alcorn – Tryptych with 188 points – also won best conductor
2nd Place: St. Joseph’s Brass – Conductor: N Barr – Kingdom of Dragons 187 points
3rd Place – Third Carrickfergus Band – Conductor: D Graham – Dimensions with 185 points, Best soloist – R Dodridge, Solo cornet
Championship Section
1st Place – Laganvale Metal Technology Band – Conductor: E Ruddock – Year of the Dragon with 194 points and Best soloist – C McBride, Solo Trombone and also Best Percussion prize.
