Ensemble from Cory Band to visit Carrickfergus this weekend
April 3 2012

Following their very successful visit to Carrickfergus in 2010, eleven members of the current British Open Champions, The Cory Band will be making a return visit this Easter. The dates for your diary are Friday 6th and Saturday 7th April 2012.

During the visit, the members of the Cory Band will be working with young players, however, those who are just young at heart will not be turned away.

The players arrive on the Friday morning at 10:00am and will go straight into full band and sectional rehearsals in Carrickfergus Town Hall with a break for lunch and finishing at 17:00pm

The Saturday will be a repeat of Friday only at a different venue, the War Memorial Halls in Carrickfergus and will culminate in a concert on Saturday night featuring the massed band of young players and a performance by the Cory Ensemble conducted by Steve Sykes.

This is a great opportunity for young players to rehearse and perform alongside some of the very best brass instrumentalists and teachers in the brass band movement and we would encourage all bands to send their young players along.

The Cory Ensemble are:

Steve Sykes – Conductor
Tom Hutchinson – Principal Cornet
Chris Turner – Assistant Principal Cornet
Darren Thomas – Solo Cornet
Richard Davies – Repiano Cornet
Ailsa Russell – Tenor Horn
James McLeod – Euphonium
Chris Thomas – Principal Trombone
Gareth Robinson – Second Trombone
Andrew Williams – Bass Trombone
Simon Howell – Principal Bass
Alun Horgan – Percussion
