Festival of Brass Entertainments Contest – Results

The band was proud to be competing in the inaugural Festival of Brass Entertainments Contest which was held today at the Maldron Hotel, Antrim. Seven of Northern Ireland’s premier brass bands competed for the title of Most Entertaining Band by performing a mini-concert of approximately 20 – 30 minutes with a team of judges scoring them on the music and entertainment aspects of their performance.

Today’s adjudicators were Thomas Fountain (music) and John Ball (entertainment) who were impressed with the standard of performances on display across all sections.

The band put together a highly entertaining programme and video presentation and came away with the Best March prize with their rendition of The Spacemen by T J Powell.

The full results of the day were as follows:

Championship Section

1st 1st Old Boys’ Association Silver Band – Conductor: Jonathan Corry – 10,10 = 20 points
Laganvale (Metal Technology) Band – Conductor: Keith Anderson – 9,8 = 17 points
Third Carrickfergus Band – Conductor: Brian Connolly – 8,9 = 17 points

Most Entertaining Band: 1st Old Boys’ Association Silver Band
Best March: Third Carrickfergus Band – The Spacemen
Best Soloist: 1st Old Boys’ Association Band – Brian Downey

2nd Section

1st CWA Brass – Conductor: David Johnston – 10,10 = 20 points
Comber Silver Band – Conductor: Wesley Thompson – 9,9 = 18 points

Most Entertaining Band: CWA Brass
Best March: CWA Brass – Knight Templar
Best Soloist: CWA Brass – Bert Shaw

3rd Section

1st Dungannon Silver Band – Conductor: Boris Pinto – 10,9 = 19 points
Dynamic Brass – Conductor: Andrew McGuiggan – 9,10 = 19 points

Most Entertaining Band: Dynamic Brass
Best March: Dynamic Brass – Castell Caerffili
Best Soloist: Dynamic Brass – David Johnson
Best Horn Section: Dungannon Silver Band
