A weekend of celebration is planned from Friday 26th September to Sunday 28th September 2008 which will see the band perform in concert, enjoy a celebration dinner and participate in a bandsman’s church service. This concert will comprise both the band and the junior band along with a special guest band made up of former players which is being co-ordinated by Morris Cameron. The concert will also feature the world debut performance of a brand new march titled “On the Castle Green” which has been commissioned by the band for its’ golden anniversary celebrations and has been composed by the extremely talented Paul Lovatt-Cooper.

The band will host a lavish Gala Golden Jubilee Dinner complete with pre-dinner table magic from illusionist Alex Kazam and after dinner music by Nightswing, a 9-piece band featuring two saxophones, trumpet and trombone plus a four piece rhythm section playing a wide range of live music – swing, soul, R&B & rock ‘n’ roll. So dance the night away to the live sound of a big band playing tunes from the BIG BAND ERA and hits right up to the present day. This promises to be a night that will be talked about for many years to come. For guests who wish to stay over, a special rate of £80.00 per room per night including breakfast has been agreed with the Clarion Hotel.
Sunday 28th September 2008 – Bandsman’s Service
Venue: North Street Church, Carrickfergus
Time: 18.15
The band will attend and feature in a bandsman’s service of thanksgiving. The Rev. Noel Williamson and Rev. Ian Harte (a former player) will lead the service with an introduction from Rev. Cecil Grant (Minister of North St. church).
The band will be playing from 6.15 and will feature a large selection of sacred music during their performance. The hymns during the service will be well known traditional hymns and you can be assured of a rousing sing. Don’t miss this big night of praise.
