The Mayor, Alderman Billy Ashe, has given a reception for the members of the band in celebration of their excellent achievements on the contesting stage.

During the reception he thanked the band members for their dedication and positive image to the Borough of Carrickfergus.
The event was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday 28th May 2013 where each band member also received their winner’s medal from the recent NIBA Irish Championships contest. It has been an excellent period of results for the band which has remained unbeaten in all major competitions since November 2011.
Speaking at the event, MD Des Graham expressed his pride to be associated with Carrickfergus Borough Council and thanked the Mayor and council for their continued support over the years. He also praised the dedication and work of the band’s musicians and made reference to the fact that many of the current members came up through the ranks of the junior band, stressing the importance of the training and nurturing of new talent in order for the band to continue to progress and flourish in the future, a point also acknowledged by the Mayor.
The band thoroughly enjoyed their evening with the First Citizen and will work hard to continue to promote a positive image of the Borough of Carrickfergus.
