The 2009 contesting year started off with the annual entertainments competition which was held in the Valley Hotel, Fivemiletown on Saturday 21st February sponsored by G R White & Son. Each band were able to choose its own selection of music for the performance. Playing to a full house, the band performed an entertaining programme but unfortunately were only placed 3rd on the day with 123 points, however, did win the prize for the best march “On the Castle Green” written especially for the band by Paul Lovatt-Cooper.

Congratulations to our fine soloists, Ruth Dodridge for Lazy River, the entire front row plus soprano for Trumpet Blues and Cantabile, Claire Hueston for Swingtime Religion and particularly to Matthew Brown with his debut solo performance for the band with Sparks.
Congratulations also to the Laganvale Band, Ballyduff Band and St. Mary’s Silver Band on wins in their respective sections.
The band will be competing again in April.
